INTRODUCCION
Thyrotoxicosis can range in severity from subclinical hyperthyroidism to life-threatening thyroid storm. Although the term thyrotoxicosis describes the state of increased circulating thyroid hormone without distinguishing the source of thyroid hormone excess, the term hyperthyroidism implies that the origin of surplus thyroid hormone arises directly from increased thyroid gland production of hormone. In this article, the authors review the presentation, diagnosis, and management of various causes of thyrotoxicosis.
